New Abu Dhabi Cricket and Sports Hub Era

With the renaming of Abu Dhabi Cricket to the Abu Dhabi Cricket & Sports Hub, a new era of sports growth has begun in the capital of the UAE (ADCSH). The renovation starts an effective improvement plan for the world-class facility. Which will help it live up to its reputation as the best place for community sports in the UAE.

ADCSH will now be home to five new Olympic-focused sports clubs created by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council (ADSC). And the city’s only “pay as you go” 50-meter Olympic-sized community pool. The Dhabi Athletics Club, Dhabi Rackets Club, Abu Dhabi Fencing Club, Abu Dhabi Weightlifting Club, and Abu Dhabi Archery Club have all moved to ADCSH. They are now part of the Hub’s exciting community outreach and school programmes.

The General Secretary of the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, His Excellency Aref Al Awani, said, “These developments significantly strengthen our proactive partnership commitment with Abu Dhabi Cricket & Sports Hub in our ongoing effort to encourage sports and fitness activity among the residents of the UAE capital and provide truly accessible training opportunities to our growing number of domestic recreational athletes, from whom future professional stars may come.” “The changes also make it much easier for us to work with global rights holders to host international sporting events in the capital of the UAE.”

ADC is currently building a new 8-lane Olympic-sized swimming pool that combines the world championship 25m training. The Hub also makes a 400-meter running track with eight lanes that meet world athletics standards.

“Yuvraj Singh told me to bat deep if I get set,” says Shubman Gill about their conversation before the ZIM tour.

With the new developments, the Hub’s sports area has grown to 251,000 square metres. It now has 30 partner clubs, and 35 sports are played there.

“All of this makes ADCSH the most forward-thinking, community-focused. And multi-sport facility in the region,” said Matthew Boucher, the CEO of ADCSH.

“The improvements build on our world-class international and domestic cricket facilities and credentials. Which have made our facility home to the famous Zayed Cricket Stadium, an instantly recognisable and admired cricketing venue worldwide.

“Cricket will continue to be a big part of what we do. All of our efforts align with our plan to keep helping it. The rebranding and expansion will make our products better for the whole community. And show that Abu Dhabi residents are becoming more interested in sports.”

“Sports Council’s campaign to achieve the 2030 vision of fostering a healthy, inclusive, active. And engaged community, and to the capital strengthening its credentials as a preferred venue for major international sporting events.”
